Drowning and Heat Stroke

Approach casualty from behind as they are prone to panic

If they are not breathing in the water try and give rescue breaths 'en route'

If they have been in the water AND RESUSITATED get them to hospital for check-up

Beware 'secondary drowning'

A small amount of water can enter the lungs and cause secondary drowning via osmosis

Hypothermia

Dry casualty quickly

Cover lightly – DO NOT OVERHEAT

Warm slowly

Heat Stroke / Exhaustion
